| The Briars is an 18th century cottage which has been tastefully renovated and is available for 5 people. It retains many period features including exposed beams, pamment floors, and a large brick fireplace. Ground floor The hallway leads into a downstairs cloakroom and also a utility room where you will find the airing cupboard, gas fired boiler, automatic washing machine & tumble drier. The comfortably furnished lounge has a large inglenook fireplace with a gas fired "wood burner type" stove. There is a colour television, DVD player and various board games. From the lounge you step down into the dining room which has a reclaimed Victorian brick floor; there is a pine dresser, table and chairs, and a pine settle. The well equipped pine kitchen has a built in electric cooker, gas hob with extractor fan, fridge, microwave oven and stainless steel sink. First floor All upstairs rooms have wool carpets fitted throughout and all linen and curtains etc. co-ordinate. Bedroom (1) is a double room with two pine chests of drawers. Bedroom (2) is the smallest room with a 3' single bed and pine chest of drawers. Bedroom (3) has twin beds and a pine chest of drawers. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, a wash basin and toilet suite. There is also a shaver point and an electric heater. The Briars has full gas fired central heating with a radiator in every room. Most of the downstairs radiators are period cast iron type. Other features include water softener, emergency lighting to stairs and landing, smoke detectors, a fire extinguisher & fire blanket. All items of bed linen, towels, teacloths & dishcloths are provided. We can also provide a cot, high chair and stair gate if required. Electricity is included in the price. Gas for central heating is included during winter months. The Briars has off road parking and a private secluded garden with picnic table. The cottage is cleaned and maintained by the owners who live nearby The Briars adjoins Mansard Cottage, our other holiday cottage. |
